Webinar: Building an IDA Program For Your Organization

Resource Overview

You’ve heard about Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) through the asset building grapevine – savings programs that allow low-income populations to receive a cash match on their savings, for investing in a home, education, business, or other wealth-building assets. They sound like a good fit for your clients, but a lot of work! How do you get started with an IDA program, how do you staff it, and how do you fund it?

This webinar introduces you to planning an IDA program, including gauging demand, recruiting partners, and finding funding. Emily Appel-Newby, a technical assistance provider with the federal Assets for Independence (AFI) program, leads the conversation. In addition, two Illinois-based Match Savings programs, one with AFI funding and another using entirely private funding sources, relate their challenges and successes, and provide more information about how to apply for funding from AFI.
